Peace corp....should I join?
« on: July 24, 2012, 09:00:12 pm »
I am just lost in this world i know that doesnt sound like someone who should go to the peace corp to help others but i feel the best when I am helping someone. And I just think it would be so rewarding and make me grow as a person. but its 27 month basically with no connection to the family and friends but I really feel so disconnected from family and friends right now. I dont see any of my friends and family everyone is so wrapped up in their own lives. Its just a decision that I have to be sure about I cant just go and come back if its not what I want some advice....

start the process and see what happens.
it sounds like you really want to go.
you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
if they are choosy and they choose you, you are a winner.
there are other mission projects, Joyce Meyer and other groups.
there may be short term mission projects you can get involved in.

Its a long time with out seeing your family, and it is probably difficult, but it make you stronger mentally and physically I would think, and in the long run a good career path.  Good luck

Well I think you are well on your way to making a good decision, taking the time to think about it, weighing in on pros and cons, and talking with others perhaps those who have done it before is definitely a good start.  Sounds like you have a lot to consider, be true to yourself and do what makes yourself happy first!  Good luck

If you follow through with the plan I want to wish you the best of luck.  I think it is a very good cause.

Its a big commitment for a long time. If you have no serious ties to your homelife(ect. bf, gf,family, husband) you should do it. Either way, it will make you a much stronger, more worldly educated person in the end. But please, don't just take FC's forum's word for making such a huge life changing desicion!!! LOL!
Good Luck!

I've heard it's really hard to get accepted into the Peace Corp. Give it a shot, and if you are accepted then you probably are a perfect fit for it and they believe that you can do it, despite the fact that it can be really hard to be away for so long. It would be a huge honor to be accepted!
