Bose vs. other sound systems.

 I just bought my first Bose product.  Nothing fancy just the Companion 20 Multimedia speaker (2-piece).  It’s the one with the control pod and the TrueSpace signal processing.  Now as far as sound systems go I’ve had them all at one time or another.  RCA, JVC etc.  You name it I’ve had it.  So I thought I’d give Bose a try.  Let me first say this.  I’ve never been disappointed in a sony (except in their laptops. DO NOT BUY A SONY LAPTOP. Unless you wanna spend the rest of its life going to and from the repair shop.)  I have found above all the others Sony truly makes great sound products so whenever I buy something I always compare it to a Sony and actually get disappointed that whatever I bought was never as good and find I’m kicking myself for not having bought a Sony model of the same thing.  That being said I set up the speakers and attached them to my laptop.  The first sound notes I heard I made my decision about them.  Bose is over-rated but then it’s not.  It is about the sound but then it’s not.  There is nothing truly spectacular about a Bose sound except the fact that it’s coming out of a small item.  —That really what makes the Bose.  It’s size.  I say the sound quality isn’t spectacular because it’s the same quality as my huge shelf stero system or the home theater system I bought for my mother.  —But that’s what boggles the mind.  Two small 8 inch computer speakers putting out the same quality sound as 5speakers and 1subwolfer.  It’s digital surround sound without needing the space for all those speakers.  If Bose didn’t make their products so tiny they’d be no different than Sony just over priced.  That’s really what you are paying for.  A small digital surround sound system for people who don’t need the space for it.  If you’ve got the space for a sound system (which they make for computers) then you don’t really need the Bose.  It’s for people that don’t have the space but still want the sound.

I really like Bose products.  The size/sound relationship is amazing.  I am not a fan of giant speakers and busy stereo systems.  They are sleek, simple, small, and put out great sound.  They just cost a lot of money.
