My guess would be the telephone has become a "tool of torment" for someone that wants to be the only one talking on it rather than doing any listening.

  Are you saying the person isn't interesting because they don't want to gossip? or the other way around.  Gossip isn't interesting in my opinion, it is used by people who have no communication skills and is hurtful to the person being gossiped about.  Now, on the other hand if you are saying you don't want to speak to someone who only wants to gossip, then good for you, but maybe I would go ahead and pick up the phone and try having a conversation with the person about something both of you find DO find interesting.

And yet, the perception apparently still eludes the OP, (unless that's feigned in order to 'get in the last word', which cannot be done if others keep talking *chuckle*).

Maybe, since that's already happened at least twice before - coming from other FC members.  Since these forums are open to all FC members, that choice isn't up to the one making the unreasonable "demand".

ohhh, haaa!  As much as that has happened lately, that didn't even occur to me when I posted that.  You're absolutely right but that probably isn't going to stop it from happening again.

ohhh, haaa!  As much as that has happened lately, that didn't even occur to me when I posted that.  You're absolutely right but that probably isn't going to stop it from happening again. 

No doubt that recognition of such a pattern cannot prevent its reoccurance but, there's a chance it'll slow 'em down some.
