Perfect game

Humber, White Sox....pretty amazing (21st perfect game on the 21st), 1st start of season, only like 20 something in career (he's 29).....that last pitch though, wow, close one there, amazed he threw such a wild one....did the batter swing? what if he had run it out instead of just standing there/complaining-could he have beat it out?

Another former Met throwing a no-hitter for another team. Still no no-hitters in Met's history. As for your questions, I don't think the batter swung and I do think he could have beat it out if he had run. But the batter has to know if it is close the umpire is going to error on the side of the pitcher after what happened in Detroit last year.

Could you imagine if he struck out the last better but he then reached on a wild pitch.  He technically would have recorded 27 outs in a row (perfect game) but would have lost the due to the fact that a batter reached base.  That would have been a really crazy story right now.  But alas it did not unfold in that manner.  Good for Humber and his perfecto!!

It is like those slow dribblers that go fo an infield hit. They look like a line drive in the box score the next day. Anyone that can get that close to a perfect game deserves it. :notworthy:

I did not see the game, but that is an amazing accomplishment. I didn't realize there had been 20 perfect games before him. The only one I remember is Roy Halladay of the Phillies throwing a perfect game against the Marlins.
