It is for lovers, not a kids day. Kids have their own valentine's celebrations in school to give cards and whatever.

My parents and my husband's parents often send valentines in the mail to my children. I usually do not buy valentines for my kids, I just do special things for them.

You can find me on Youtube!

I never really bought my kids a gift for Valentines. We would usually make cookies, cupcakes or cards for other people. Sometimes, if I saw a cute pencil or other small item I would get that along with the candy hearts or heart lollipops. If you want to give the kids a gift, that's cool.

I think it's for lovers too, but I give my nieces candy hearts or something.

I had my son on Valentine's day so we've always gotten him presents  :)  He had 3 kids who have a bunch of half bothers and sisters and we have enough trouble keeping up with birthdays and Christmas so we don't try to do Valentines Day.
