what do you buy your spouse for their birthday?

My hubby's birthday is today but we sort of celebrated at his mom's yesterday for dinner.  I bought him a lot of nice things for Christmas so I just got him a nice coffee mug with "OHIO STATE" on it ... his TEAM!!  and a little bit of candy.  I think he was a little irritated with me but I really have had NO time for shopping at all.  I had that put away because I had bought it for Christmas and thought I would keep it back maybe for valentines day but my Mom has been in and out of the hospital and I am doing everything for my home and their home ... EXHAUSTED.  I told him I would buy him dinner tonight but he said I was too cheap to pay for it     It really hurt my feelings.   I don't work except for my online business which has suffered greatly due to being too busy.  The only money I have is money i save back from grocery money etc that he gives me each week but I would be happy to spend it all to make someone him happy. 


So is a coffee mug that bad of a gift?

I usually take my boyfriend (we've been together 2.5 years) out to dinner for his birthday. And he hates buying clothes so I usually will buy him a new shirt or something. He is one of the most "simple" people I've ever known, and the few things he DOES buy, he is really picky about, so I leave most of his things to himself (like hats).

So is a coffee mug that bad of a gift?

i I brought  my spouse a tool set. All the tool he needs for working on his car. Like changing brake and changing oil. That's about all he does on his car.

I am a guy and you can not go wrong giving me a flashlight. I do not believe a man can have too many flashlights. There are so many different types and styles these days and one to fit any budget.

My spouse gets to eat at a steak house, because I wont eat at a steak house unless its his birthday.

If I had a spouse, I'd probably buy her some sort of jewelry, assuming that was her kind of thing.  But it would really depend on what she wants.
