hate when miscommunication happens

So i bought a camera in may of 2009 and had a warranty last year i got it fixed and asked when the warranty was over because i lost the paperwork and did not want it to expire and not be able to renew like if something happened i wanted it to be covered they said they would tell me when it as about to expire so that i can renew and i called today and they told me that it expired and could no longer be renewed so  have a 800 dollar camera not able to get any warranty so if it breaks i am screwed but do not have the money to go buy another camera in order to get a warranty i understand this could be a miss-communication or someone forgot to tell mer somehow but now i am stuck in this big problem for me it just stinks =(
