Halloween
« on: November 01, 2011, 06:03:28 am »
I didn't get many visitors.  I thought at first that I wouldn't have enough to hand out so I had  my friend go buy some more candy.  He come back with 4 more bags of candy.  I got one more visitor after that.  It was the best one.  His parents come driving him up in the yard in an electric golf cart.  The little guy was dressed in a monkey suit and his dad was in a gorilla suit.  I was expecting him to come over, but it was still a good suprise, as it was getting late and I thought they couldn't make it.  The little guy is 2 years old and is the first time he smiled at me.  At the beginning of the night I was handing out toys, brain games as one girl called it.  Had some little flashlights for the kids, puzzles, and a few other things.  This little guy got a small sack of toys and a few packages of candy.  Small price to pay for that smile.  Wish I would have taken a picture of them, didn't think about it until they left. ::) There wasn't many people out last night, I was told.  Don't know what was going on.  I heard a church was having a halloween party.  Some places do that to keep the kids safe and warm.  It was so nice out last night, I thought I would have more.   How was your night?  Did you have fun?

I took the kids to do the downtown trick or treating. There werent very many people out and about. At around 7 or 8 is when the people really started to get involved. I think with the economy being as bad as it is, some people couldnt afford to buy candy to hand out and then some kids didnt get a costume. Overall it was a good night but dont you all remember how it was when we were kids?

Plus alot of people are scared for some reason to take their kids trick or treating or they just don't want their kids to go. I think that is sad. I brought my kids on base because they are little and we had to start at 5pm. Plus you can hit more houses in just a little time. More fun for little kids I think. We were the first people at every house though cause no one else had started. My kids are 4 and 1 though, and they go to bed at 7pm.

"What a disappointment.  I did not get one kid this Halloween.  This is a new area for me and was not sure what to expect, but now I have all this candy to eat all by myself.

I had fun during the day working with the kids at my job.  Other than that I cleaned and cooked when I got home so my night wasn't too exciting unfortunately.

We keep the outside lights out while trick or treating cause there's never any kids anyway. Quit giving out candy about 3 years ago when all we got were older teenage kids totally covered up. Kind of made me a little nervous. Kids now go to community functions or the big subdivisions.
