Try using a different brand of eye shadow.  Whenever I am trying to cut corners and buy a cheaper or different brand I sometimes experience the same thing.  If I am wearing a white or light or dress shirt I sometimes drape a towel across my chest so no make up get on my clothes.  But I have found most the more expensive brands do much better.  Best of luck!  Make up is fun!

I wet the tip of my eye shadow brush!!! It workd great and should not get any where. I never use the eye shadow brush that they provide for you.

You need to get a special small makeup brush, don't use the applicator that comes with it.

Don't use the applicator that comes with the eyeshadow because it is very dry if you don't have any other applicator but some eye cream on the applicator before using it and leave it for a while then massage it with your fingers to get any excess cream don't put too much then the sponge will be much softer and you can get a better result that way hope it helps :)

Drip your applicator in some water.  Someone told me that once.  I've never tried it, but it makes sense I guess!  :)

If you use a loose powder eyeshadow, I always recommend using an eyeshadow brush and a mixing medium. The most common used is water (which isn't a bad choice at all), but there are makeup brands that sell mixing mediums that hold much better than just plain old H2O. Whenever I work with loose powder, I also like to put a tissue on my cheek just in case of any fall out.
Hope that helps!! :)

I have never been into using a lot of makeup.  But when I used the powdered kind, it was very little.  Although I do see some people go a lot overboard with makeup period.
