First usually is applied to something amazing, whether that thing may be good or bad... The first pure electric car that can get 100000000000000 miles on one 15 minute charge. Amazing right?

At that point a "first" is unique and there's no comparison for it. Once you get a few more things like the first, it can become commonplace and not so unique.

Because it hasn't happened before...It's a new experience that opens you up to different senses and emotions. Like the first time I had Butter Pecan ice cream. It still tastes good, but it's not like the first time.

The 1st is always unique because you've never done it before, so it's new which makes it exciting because it's a new feeling you've never felt before.
