Probably not.  A tropical storm is not nearly as bad as a hurricane.  It's what I experienced during Irene...and the worst that happened in the power went out for an hour, it rained torrentially, and was quite windy.

This particular tropical storm is not to be taken lightly.  It is such an oddball storm because it is a slow mover and dumping lots of rain.  Just heard on the weather channel that they were issuing a mandatory evacuation order for Jefferson Parrish because of flooding.  So if your sister is in a low lying area I would be concerned.  But if she is in a higher elevation she might loose power is about all.

Tropical storm to us in the South are nothing other than a bother. Winds won't get above 60 and I think the ground is so dry here (where I am it has not rained in 3 months) that all the rain will do nothing than fill up the bayous. I hope something like this does not happen (for your entertainment this is my old house around 2 years ago when Gustav hit)

My old house is the one in the middle, behind my house was a bayou that, as you can see, flooded.

We had a Tropical Storm last Saturday in Pa. The lights went out so My cat and I sat out on my porch the whole night and watched the thing have its way with the neighborhood. My cat loved it and she kept running off the porch and doing this raindance thing. We had FUN. Let's turn the lights off and put the wind on every Saturday night.
