I do not think they should.. Based on the rating itself there should not be any type of cursing or suggestive themes.

I don't think those phrases: "you sunnuva", "hell gravity", and "flames of Gehenna" are anything to worry about. A whip is just a weapon a character uses. No different from a knife, axe, kusari-gama, arrows, or a sword.

It shouldn't matter too much if cursing appears in a video game, E-rated or not. What really matters is the kid's maturity and how well they react to hearing those words. If cursing or those phrases above are a problem for any parents, they could either make sure their kids know not to repeat them, or not let their kids play those games.

Then why have ratings if it doesnt matter?? Thats what they're there for. Yeah, it all depends on the childs maturity but parents buy these games for their child because its rated a certain way. And they buy them based on the rating because all children are different when it comes to everything, including maturity.
What's being said and how much is being said are other things to look at too. If cursing happens every time someone speaks, then it would be wrong. I understand not wanting it in kid games. Hell gravity and those other phrases aren't curse words. If it happens that one is said maybe twice in an entire game, it is not something to give a lot of attention to.

I don't think there should be cursing or suggestive themes in any games. What are we teaching our children????
Do you mean all games or only kid games? If all games, do you think those things should stay out of movies as well?

I understand what you're saying, but the ratings are put there so that the adults know which games are suitable for certain aged children. And a rated E game shouldn't have even the slightest curse word in it. I personally don't think that hell gravity is bad, but a lot of parents dont like it and they buy these games based on that rating, believing that its rated that way because it doesnt contain adult language or any other adult material. Its like false advertisement. Why put a rating on a game if the people making the games are not gonna abide by them? You know? I wouldn't care if a few "kinda" bad words are in there, but thats not the point, a lot of parents are bothered by it. And they will make a big deal out of it. If theres anything that we've learned, people will make a big deal out of anything if they think they can profit from it.

That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.

Are you being sarcastic?  I'm not sure; can't tell whether you are or not from your writing...

I listened to it multiple times to try and hear anything bad; all I hearing is him grunting in pain.

NO!!!!!  That is what is wrong with our society ~ too much has become "acceptable" behaviour.
Have a wonderful day!

No. If a game has any cursing in it, it should not be rated E.

One simple question...if it's rated E, then doesn't having curse words in it defeat the purpose of the rating?

No cursing, but suggestive themes is a little iffy.  I remember quite a bit of sexual innuendo in the 80's kids show Pee Wee's Playhouse.  Ms. Yvonne would say I have a fire detector over my bed in a sultry voice is just one such thing I remember.  As long as the suggestive theme is well disguised to young viewers I don't see a huge problem.

I don't think hell is a bad word (Especially not when used in the context 'fiery depths of hell') so the examples of language you gave I think are fine for an E game but I do agree that the suggestive themes need to be left out. I noticed in kid's movies they'll try to put some sort of sexual innuendo and it just ends up being awkward.
