Just had surgery, anyone else? It sucks a big one.
« on: June 30, 2011, 07:54:03 pm »
Just had double inguinal hernia surgery on Wednesday and I don't recall anything after they put the Valium in my IV to help me relax.  I remember them wheeling me down the hallway and saying I was a little nervous and then I blacked out like one too many drinks might do.  I'm popping Percocets today like their Smarties, but it still feels like I just got kicked in the nads. :sad1:  Anyone else had hernia surgery or any surgery at all?  This was my first surgery and I could use some advice or just some empathy.  I'd love to be drinking a beer right now, but I can't drive up to the store.  Ah well, I'll survive.

I have never had surgey, but In January 2011, I was having shortness of breath, was sent to emergency and through never ending tests, the Doctors found that I have clots in both lungs.  The Positive side-if I continue taking the medication until January 2012 its possible I can stop taking the medication, if I can breath smoothly.  The negative side- is if I still have shortness of breath I will have to taking the medication for the rest of my life-what a bummer.  I keep positive thoughts always about my issue.

That is a tough deal, hope it all works great for you when you go back next January.  Worst case scenario you will be taking medication long term, but you will be alive and that is what matters.  My wife's dad died from diabetes when she was 12 because he didn't take the pill he was supposed to every day.  Keep a positive outlook no matter what the outcome and my prayers go out to you.

I would advise to not drink a beer while taking pain medicine.  I have a couple of surgeries, not hernia repairs, but try to do as much as you can.  Don't do anything that you are not supposed to.

I have not had major surgery, but I had a baby.  Does that count?  !!  Seriously, I can and do offer sympathy.  I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my early 30's and now at 68 it has become a major problem.  Chronic pain is a bummer.

I've had both hips and both knees replaced because of osteoarthritis.  The good thing about surgery is.....that pain is going to go away in time.  If you don't have something fixed or replaced you might have to live with the pain forever.  And by the way...when I walk you can't even tell I've got a bunch of after market parts    lol
