when the bank rules changed, my bank, with all it's outrageous charges for everything, dropped the overdraft fee for purchases under ten dollars on debit cards!  I couldn't believe it!  I remember all the times when I thought I had three or four bucks left and bought something for two dollars and got a thirty seven overdraft.....now, when that happens, no fee!  And I do what lots of people here have said - take extra money out at a POS (point of sale).  Of course, trouble with that is, most stores won't let you take more than fifty or sixty extra out - but you can always do two or three of them if you really need more cash!  I hate carrying cash.
End the suffering!  Get your cats - and all strays and ferals - spayed and neutered!

Banks hold a LOT of "fine print" in the details of their agreements. The average consumer doesn't read those or doesn't think that they apply to them. READ THE FINE PRINT on any offer to sign up for. It's your money correct, but I know from being in business that banks will use an excuse of it "costs money to work with money" and there's no way around it if you use their services.

Usually I will go either to my own branch or go to the grocery store and buy a cheap pack of gum and get cash out. Doesn't cost an extra dime (besides the gum, and having gum around doesn't hurt. :)

I have a credit union and their ATMs are not easy to get to, I dio have a policy that says they return the fees the other atm charges, but they still charge me $2 for using a foreign atm, meaning, I go to boa which charges $2 for using their atm, my bank charges $2 for using another atm, but they refund the $2 that boa charged, and I pay 2 instead of 4.  So if I cannot go to my own bank and get money out, I go the grocery store buy, bread, milk and juice and withdraw $50 out of there no charges for withdrawing the money that way.

That is the reason I use my bank ATMs only. I avoid all those extra charges. Plan your day and trips wisely.

Yea the bank bailout helped alot. NOT. What a bunch of bullsh*t that was. Now the banks are taking away free checking and adding fees that were not there before.   :bs:
