Does discrinination still exits?
« on: March 05, 2011, 08:23:11 am »
I know this is a touchy subject But i still believe it exits. I believe it will as long as there are humans on the face of the earth. I am 63 years old and am planning to go back to school but Im afraid it will not do any good because of my age.  What do you think? and oh yes and because of the economy. :dontknow:

Yes it does.  Even if everyone looked exactly the same people will still disagree and find something to discriminate against.  It seems conflict is just human nature.

Its absolutley does exsist all around us , and when i was raised i never knew that there was a diffrenece between our color of our skin until i got into highschool due to the fact we were raised in the ghetto. So when i got into high school i didnt understand why the colored people where being weird to me for my color of my skin then my mom had to exsplain to me what they were doing. And i grew up around colored people and i didnt even know that because of our differences was a reason to discriminate.

   8) Hey Wille353,  I would`nt worry to much about going back to school at your age..  I was 47 and the younger students really looked up to me with respect!!  Now, as far as the other thing?  I grew up in the 60`s & 70`s, there was discrimination all over and still is..  It also depends on where you are too.. For example: Ohio, California, Maine or where ever.. People are different on that subject..  :dontknow:

I am beginning to believe they discriminate more on age than color or race.  The older someone is, the harder it is to find a job.   I also think some places, especially retail, are getting rid of full time employees and using parttimers so they don't have to pay out all the benefits.

you'll do find if you're going back to school. I've seen many people of many ages going back to school, and back to the topic, yes it still exists. Its human nature, I guess.

Of course there is discrimination but it also depends where you live. Your race. and your sex. Can be better or worse for some.

Discrimination will always exist, unfortunately. Too many people have dumb ideas regarding people who they perceive to be inferior to themselves because of race, age, handicap or whatever.
