is it better to have accquatience or best friends

i only have 3 best friends the rest have usually tried to use me so i usually protect myself from any one else so its best friends for me

with, and then i have quite a few acquaintances who
i talk to, but don't really know much about me on a deep
or personal level. i don't like getting too personal with
co-workers or friends of friends unless we click really
well...

i prefer to have meaningful conversations and i'm very
good at listening and empathizing with others, so for me,
its better to have a few best friends

Its best to have it that way.  Not everyone is meant to be your best friend.  The ones that truly care and truly matter should be the ones that are front and center in your life.  The others can take a back seat to everyone else.

i have a selected amount of friends i dont have that much that im close with so id say i have more accquatiences , i like it that way because if we fall out of contact theres little to no guilt

Both, I have many acquaintances that I chat with occasionally and I also have 2 close friends that I tell everything too. I think a good mixture is good.

Agreed!  I have many, many acquaintances, but only one true friend.  I can tell him just about anything and not have to worry about him telling other people. I have so many acquaintances, that I can't even count them.  I can tell them things, but certainly not the things that are very personal.

Acquaintances works better for me.  So called best friends always betray you.  It happened to me.  I stopped speaking to her because of the betrayal.

I don't have any best friends right now. Not in a while really, I have more acquaintances. But I think it would be better to at least have one best friend. Someone you can count on and talk to if you need to.

I feel that a person can have many many acquaintences but only few true friends.  Both are important but at the end of the day your true friends are what matter.

For me I got about 3-4 best friends, then the people who I maybe go to concerts with or hang out after work or something are my accquatience. Best friends are nice to have but  accquatience should be people you trust but don't get close with. Good to have a mixture of both.
