Why can't I send private messages?

I tried to send a private message and an error popped up saying that I couldn't send any. Why? Could a mod please fix this? And if it is set up here where you can't send pms I think that is wrong. There are certain things you don't want to discuss over the board and shouldn't have to. Not everyone wants to give their email out either.

Can someone please answer this question? Surely someone knows the answer.

We can't send them.

As far as reason? No one knows honestly, it's just something that's set that way. I too think it's very dumb.

According to staff, private messaging was available at one time.  However, it was disabled after it was being abused by members, in that the system was being used to send referral links to other sites, spam, etc.

I wasn't a member yet when messaging was still available, so I don't know actually how bad it was at the time of disabling it.  But, I can see why this would be a problem and why they decided to get rid of it.

I too have been trying to send a private message and i agree that it is wrong that u cant. they should add it back

They are not going to add it back, so you just need to figure out how to contact people outside the forum. I belong to other forums I wish would get rid of it too.
