Legal Thieves
« on: December 16, 2010, 11:13:56 am »
This morning i get a call that my brothers van was illegally towed from his apartment. When he called to see what was up the had absolutely no clue why they towed it and the apartments had no reports on his vehicle. Come to find out after a lil researching this company has had 25 complaints to the Better B. B due to wrongfully towing peoples vehicles. And much to our dismay these people are truly out to collect there Christmas money because you know that these people who complained had to pay $300.00 to get their vehicle back be for they charge an additional 100.00 dollars a day that its sits on there property. So we made a complaint our selves. Did no good had to get the van back. :dontknow:

Try contacting your local TV station and find out if they have a "Help" section that procasts complaints by consumers.  If they do, they investigate the complaint and try to help you get restitution.  Mostly it's a tool to embarrass the firm into making restitution and broadcasting the bad behavior to a broader audience.

An alternative is to file a claim in Small Claims count for restituition of wrongfully seized property/monies.

If it's trully happened to alot of people, perhaps a criminal action should be brought about by your local police.  (ie theft of property, extortion.)

If your brother doesn't have his van back, definately final a stolen vehicle report with the police and tell them where it can be found -- and that the firm should be arrested for stealing the van.  Then if the firm agrees to return it for fees, charge them with extortion.

The BBB records poor business practice, but it doesn't bring about legal action
