You need to carry a concealed weapon.  You go through a course, and get the permit.  It's different in every state, so you need to check the law in yours.  I have mace, and carry a concealed weapon.

Today is just not my day.  I had this long post written out, and my daughter just climbed up on my laptop causing me to delete it and I nearly burst into tears.  Later when I calm down, I will re-write my post, as it is relevant to this conversation.   :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

Alright...let's try this again...

My husband works at a truck stop and has been there since December of 2007.  His boss began talking to him about a promotion in January of 2009.  The hierarchy at this store is Manager - Assistant Manager - 2nd Assistant and he has been told by his boss many many times that he would be made the 2nd Assistant to have it jerked out from underneath him.  Most recently, his boss began training him about 3 months ago for the position, and he has worked countless hours of overtime (without having received a raise for the extra work since they keep telling him he won't get the raise until it is official that he has the position) and the craziest hours imaginable (being switched from 2nd shift to 3rd to 1st from day to day), throwing our entire family off on our sleep schedule (my daughter didn't fall asleep until after 11 tonight and has actually been up until roughly 2am some nights...and she just turned 2 in September!).  I've been upset not only about this, but the fact that even though he is working this overtime, he isn't being paid for the overtime.  Somehow, even when we add up his hours, the hours that show up on his check are always off between 2-5 hours of overtime.  He has been terrified to say anything because (a) he wants this promotion so bad he can taste it and (b) he is afraid he'll get fired, and the money I make as a substitute teacher will not support us without his income (I'm lucky if I get 2 days a week).

Two weeks ago, his boss received a promotion, so the store's assistant manager was made manager and my husband was told that, barring any complications, he would be made the assistant manager.  Since this announcement was made, his overtime has increased (last week he worked over 50 hours and the week before around 45).  Today was his payday.  The first week on his check, he was paid for 39.75 hours and the second week he was paid for 42.36 hours.  I was in an uproar when I was told, and I told him that he was to immediately begin applying for other jobs and to start writing down exactly when he clocks in and when he clocks out...to even take pictures of the time clock, because in two weeks if it happened again, the state labor review board was going to be getting a phone call from our attorney.

The issue is, the manager of the store receives a monthly bonus that is a percentage of the store's profits from the previous month.  Any inventory shortages, drive-offs, and overtime for the employees, comes out of that bonus.  I'm livid.  My husband has dealt with crazy truck drivers, cleaned up fuel spills, caught shoplifters, and dealt with people, most recently, coming in on election day and cussing him out because it is illegal to sell alcohol in our state before the polls close...which they know fully well considering election day happens every friggin year.  The craziest of the crazy come out to truck stops for some reason, and they are out all hours of the day there, considering most are open 24/7.  My husband has worked every Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years, and every other holiday.  We had to fight his manager for him to get his week vacation this year as well, even though we told her three months before our vacation exactly when he was going to take it and we even rescheduled our vacation so it would be more convenient for her!

Like I said...its the management that makes customer service jobs unbearable, cause crazy customers can be dealt with, and are sometimes entertaining.   :angry7:  :BangHead:  :angry7:

I used to work as a manager for Avenue retail stores(a store for larger women!) So, one night when I was working, this skinny-crazy looking women-with a walking cane to boot, comes in and of course anyone is welcome, so she came in and picked out some clothes that were obviously like a freakin tent on her, and she went into the dressing room.  I alerted the other sales associates and we kept an eye on her. About 10 min later, she came out, and had stuffed half of the merchandise in her bag, and proceeded to walk out of the store.  I was right on her tail.  She got out about halfway to the parking lot, and I came out and said, "Hey, yooooouuuu neeeed to come on back over here and return that merchandize that you stole!" Keep in mind, she wasn't using her cane as she rushed out the door!!!!

"I'm so sorry, I just got out of jail, and I have a drug problem!!! PLEASE dont call the cops ma'am please!"  That whole time I was rifling throught her bag, pulling out, underwear, shirts, night gowns, pants?!?!?!?!?

THIS STUFF DIDN'T EVEN FIT HER!!!!!! WTF MAN?!?!!!!!!

I asked her if she had anything else on her, and
she said no, and to please show mercy?! Strange request when you are stealing clothes that don't fit you!!! My sales associate asked me if I wanted to call the cops, and I told her no. I looked at this women, and I said: "Leave this store, and NEVER EVER COME BACK AROUND HERE AGAIN, OR YOUR *bleep* WILL GO TO JAIL!!!!

You have to be pretty freaking desperate to go into a store, steal clothes that don't fit you at all, with the intent to use them to sell for drugs!!!!
And she got caught-dumbass!!!!

years ago I worked at Mcdonalds. I worked the night shift.. fun I tell ya.
I had a drunk customer come in, order some food, stumble, spit, and fall on the floor. The police were called, and before they arrived, the gentleman pulled out a knife which he laid on the floor..
I was monitoring him sitting on the floor, I casually walked over to him, kicked the knife away from him, used a calming voice, while talking to him and noticed his leg was cut, I had employees get the first aid kit, and I tried to apply need application , when police arrived, informed them of the info, and off the drunk man went..

as a teen I worked at Kmart, as a cashier,  now this job seemed to be right up my alley.
Till xmas season arrived, Not only do you get more hours and less brakes, but you have to deal with the public who are in a hurry, pushy, looking for lower prices, and just plain rude.  The stress of customers yelling at you about a wrong price as if you were the one who changed the price on them was unbeliveable.
I just about had a seizure from the stress of the holiday season.. Never again.

Ever wished you had one of these for those really horrible people, that no matter what you say or do, you can't please?? ...lol or perhaps the one below it, for yourself, to help calm the nerves?? lol!! ;D :P
That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.
