Halloween was a total bust.
« on: November 01, 2010, 06:31:26 am »
How was your Halloween? I wasted my money on candy this Halloween. The kids that came to my door was like way too old & most of them didn't have a costume on. I asked them what did Halloween mean? Nobody knew. So I told my own version of halloween. I told them that all the dead people come out before they have to leave earth to go into the afterlife. They play all types of jokes & tricks to live people. So, the live people have to dress in costumes to fool the dead. So, that they don't grab them & take them back into the after life with them!  Ha....ha...ha you should have seen the kids' eye grow big & round with fear especially the ones that didn't wear a costume. I guess it was worth it wasting my monies on candies. Hope your hallow's eve ease a good one.

Old like how old? One of my friends said she went trick or treating and she's 21 so I was like "what?"
Not wearing a costume is... dumb. You have to wear a costume to go trick or treating. Parents can seriously take their kids to Five Below or Walmart or something and grab a cheap costume, it isn't hard.

We had no trick or treaters at my house and none at my boyfriend's house. I wanted to see the cute little kids. :[ I got to see his little sister, though. She's 4 and she was Tinkerbell. :] Cute. :]

I think that the "spirit" of the holidays is dwindling amd most kids just dont feel that the effort is worth anything.

We haven't had any kids at our door since I've moved here in 2002. But that might be because I live near a busy intersection. I wish I could still go trick or treating but I'm 23 so that'd be a little weird, haha.

That's funny.  We went trick- or- treating and even the adults were dressed up with their kids.  It was awesome.  Of course I dressed up too.  I guess some neighborhoods do and some don't.  Maybe next year those kids will dress up. lol

No kids at all.  To me that was just fine.  Just another day to enjoy the peace and quiet. :)

We had a WONDERFUL Halloween! My brother and his wife dressed as Superman and Catwoman, and my husband and I dressed as Evel Knievel and Lilith, and we escorted my nephew (as Yoda) and our kids (as Darth Vader and Princess Leia) around our small town to trick or treat. Hundreds of kids (not bad for a town with a population of less than 2000) were out in force, and the costumes- for kids and adults- were stellar!

our halloween was kind of a bust too. i mean, we had lots of fun dressing up, my husband, our 10 yr old son, 2 yr old daughter, and myself all dressed as pirates, but our usual routine was to do the safe candy night in our downtown shopping center and then to go to the outlet mall for their safe night. then we would usually hit a few of the streets in our neighborhood. well this year our city cancelled the main street candy night and only 60% of the outlet mall stores participated in that. on top of that, there was no organization of it this year so i t was all chaos, people pushing in front of each other, lines going in every direction, no flow of traffic, and the stores ran out of candy within the first hour. so we left there and went to out street where not one single house had their porch light on. since it was a school night we decided to call it a night but i know my son was disappointed that it wasn't like the previous years.

My halloween was about the same, went with my grand-daughters and I was shocked at how many houses that did not give out candy. I guess they are in the same situation that everyone else is. My grand-daughters had fun and that is all that counts.

I had the opposite problem. I was kind of hoping we would have some candy left. I love chocolate. I bought tons of it, but when I got back from taking my kids trick-or-treating it was almost all gone. My husband was having fun scaring all the kids, so we gave away my youngest's candy, since she really doesn't eat it anyway, and then we found a bag of lollipops to give away. So no chocolate for me.....lol

I would never allow a child of mine to go trick or treating.  Its gotten too dangerous and there are so many evil people.  On the the news last night it was reported a kid open up a snickers bar and found a needle in the candy.  So you have to wonder what other kind of poison people may put in candy.
