is she teething?
Is she hungry?
Does she have gas?
Is she pooping regularly?

Sleeping a lot is normal, they go through growth spurts and sleep to grow..... is she also eating more?

If you think she is acting strangely consult your doctor.

Its a delicate thing.  She may be cranky because she is tired or hungry or gassy (have you tried Mylicon?).  The sucking constantly is usually a sign that she's needing comfort of some sort.  Sucking on a plug or finger is a good way of relieving gas I've noticed, or to show that she is hungry.  Every child is different, though.

I would talk to your pediatrician, honestly.  She may not want her paci anymore, and there is nothing wrong with that.  There is nothing wrong with sucking her thumb or fingers, either.  The AAP says that most kids drop the finger sucking on their own, and it is a good way of self-soothing.

But, in all honesty, when it comes to parenting, opinions are like  :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :bootyshake:... everyone has one.  The opinion that matters is that of your pediatrician, your own, and that of her other parent.

If she's spitting up quite often, you might want to try burping her more often.  It won't hurt to try... the mood swings and spit up may be from gas.

Don't worry too much, I've noticed with my daughter, she plays off of my moods, even at a very young age. Enjoy the time that you have holding her and cuddling her. Trust me, you will miss it when she gets older!!!

Echoing previous comments, if you're worried take her to her doctor. My 10mo old around the same time as yours was spitting up constantly and the Dr. put her on zantac and it helped a ton. Also, Gripe Water helped her so much when she had the hiccups and then would violently spit up. Both came from the Dr.

Also, is she teething? Catherine started teething at around 4mo's and thats when all hell broke loose and her whole mood changed with every little thing.

I know what you're going through, but relax, as our Dr. said, a worried parent is a concerned parent. :) good luck.

Lots of times babies suck on their hands and spit up if they have an upset tummy. You might try Mylicon or trying a different formula if that's what your using.

She could be teething. They need a lot of sleep at this age.  Around 6 months you can start feeding solid food. I started earlier w/ my son. He was so happy to taste something new in his mouth. You can always check w/ her Doc. to see if she is ready for solid food. They also need a lot of tummy time, put her on the floor with a soft blanket and toys, classical music, take her for walks. I used to have a carrier and walk w/ my son around the house doing the household chores w/ him. Enjoy this time because it goes really fast my son just turned 3.

It may be gas.  A lot of people with children that I know had this problem.  Talk to your pediatrician.

My twins use to do the same and it was gas. With my 3rd child it was just her gums bothering her due to early teething.
It's different for all babies and if you feel concerned I would suggest talking to a doctor.
