private phone?
« on: February 04, 2008, 05:42:17 pm »
i've been using private phone and LOVED it. seems they're ending this service on the 19th. Any suggestions on another site that offers this? preferably with a local area code. :-

the cheapest suggestion i have heard is to buy a cheap cell phone ($9/$14)..-they usually come with a 30/60 min prepaid card-..activate it..and just never turn it on...other then that..im clueless..sorry :sad1:

all i know is im not giving out my home phone number...no how!...no way!..they will be callin 'time and temp'..i have seen all the calls listed on my privatephone..phone log..and im like... oh hell no!

...at the tone...the time will be...time to hang up an stop callin LendaL...beeeeeeeeeeeep!

you can get a free phone service at www.k7.net , the only drawback is it is a Seattle number.  It works on many places but some of the survey places want your phone to match your zip.

due to the other site that i participate in, my area code is a must. i got one through GrandCentral yesterday. FABULOUS. i can put it on do not disturb ( i have an infant who naps alot) so the calls will go straight to my inbox and i can listen to them online. i get my calls without waking the baby. perfect. ;D

GrandCentral seems like a good service. How's it work?

"google" just took over and right now, it's by invite only. all you have to do is go to their site, request a number be reserved for you. you choose your area code and leave them your email. the next day, they sent me a link to claim my number and set up my account. I LOVE it. ;D it's a great service. :thumbsup:

Wow that sounds great! :D
Is it a separate number or does it link your numbers together?

everything is linked BUT....i'm able to put it in "do not disturb" mode for when Maia is napping. In that mode, all calls go directly to my voicemail, which i can listen to on their site. ;D
