Needy Friends?
« on: August 22, 2010, 08:11:35 am »
My husband has a couple of friends who always seem to need to borrow a few bucks when they know we have some (social security check came in). They always pay it back, but it leves us short in the mean time. What do you all think - help out good friends when they need it or take care of #1?

Your husband needs to learn to say no especially if it is putting a financial stain on your family.  Tell them look I can't afford to loan you money plain and simple.  You don't have to give them any excuses just say we can't afford it.

Say no. If not, just give them a set date for them to re-pay you that doesn't put a strain on you.

Family comes first. It's not wrong to say no. If you have extra money after taking care of family, then do with it as you see fit, but family is #1 :peace:

Its time you tell them No...  Its putting undo stress in your lives that doesn't have to be.  Need to tell them that you can't do it anymore.  Just tell them its making things hard for you.   :dontknow:

I think it's fine to help a friend as long as it isn't putting strain on your family and what not. but if it's puts the family in financial trouble then he needs to just say no. if they are his true friends then they would understand

There is a difference in lending friends or even family money when you actually have it versus when you only have what you need.  if they are your friend they will understand that you cant give what you dont have. Good luck
