Some of the offers seem useless since you have to pay the same or even more of what you will get.  For example, you get $5 for the book membership offer, but you must buy 5 books for $.99.  It isn't worth anything.

For offers like the one you describe - it's like a $5 rebate.  If you were really interested in trying the product, you get some of your money back from FC.  The $5 is an incentive to try the product.  Don't sign up for it only for the $5 - sign up because you really want to try the product.
