I am a mother of a 14 year old son who has a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome. I definitely need to be available for him. I also have two other children who suffer from having a special needs child around. Alot of attention goes to that child, therapies, time, medication, limitations. Yes, there are also "gifts" to having someone so "special" in our lives, but so far, it has NOT been financial. I am desperatly looking for employment. I teach part time, but part timers do NOT earn summer pay. I cannot work summer camps because my children are home and paying a babysitter would be MORE than I earn. I tried the night time selling things go to someone's house parties. Too much, not enough income and you have to be very motivated and a bit pushy. It takes all my energy to care for my family. I am also a writer. I blog when I can, and have written a book. Payback has not been good on that either, except emotional gratification.
I am trying the "at home" money making ideas. I am at a loss. There are really and truly not that many jobs out there. Who is telling us there are jobs? I have a friend who can work ANY hours and SHE will take ANY pay and she even cannot find a job.
SO what is a mom like me with limitations to do?
Any ideas or thoughts or stories you would like to share? Would love to hear from others.
