OT
« on: June 01, 2010, 04:46:34 pm »
So...this is random and just popped into my head the other day....
What are people's thoughts/opinions regarding the new football overtime rule?
Do people think it should be changed to include the regular season as well??

Good question. I haven't heard about it and I try to follow all of this off season football stuff.

I forget the actual rule, but anything is better than the rule that they used to use. It was extremely unfair. The coin flip that decided who got possesion of the ball basically decided who won the game. It was extremely unfair!

I think the new rule was much needed because I've heard plenty of people complain about it for years and it really was unfair. Was it the best solution? Not in my opinion, but it's an improvement.

The NFL owners voted to change an element in the overtime rule, giving a possession to the team that loses the coin toss at the start of OT if the team that wins the coin toss scores a field goal with its first possession.

This is what it says on line and it doesn't make any sense to me why they would do this.  It seems it would make more sense to change the kickers back to the 35 yard line if they are so accurate at kicking.  for this to be only in the pre-season is stupid.
