Credit Card Phishers
« on: February 26, 2010, 04:26:02 pm »
If any of these #'s call you, they are a scam, do NOT answer: 813-9754 866-394-9199 866-963-4940 IMC is the co.They have called my phone 6 times already today and there are tons of other complaints all over the net.I found so many ppl saying that they are told they are being entered into a sweepstakes and in order to complete it, they need them to order a magazine in order to get 4 for free and their choice of ladies or gentleman's watch.  The are fishing for ppl's credit card numbers. Somehow they get your phone # online and your name & address. BEWARE! Please pass this on. I programmed their numbers in my cell to know not to answer. I suggest you do the same.

Do not waste your efforts trying to ask to be put on their do not call list because THEY ARE NOT TELEMARKETERS, they are criminals trying to get your credit card info only. Some ppl get hung up on, yelled at and called by all three numbers if they try to have their phone company block one of them. These guys/gals are vicious and unfortunately w/o any way to prove who they are we are defenseless. Just ignore their calls. Period. Program em and hit ignore when they call.

I have a suspicion one of these surveys I filled out may have given out my #.  >:(

Yeah, I got that call too. I asked them why they don't have the number for me to call back. The girl that I talk to told me that they are using computer system to call that why they don't have number to call back. Also, they try to offer me a watch diamond and blah blah blah.... Come on people , a lady watch diamond with the magazine subscription..
I am glad I said no to them.

BTW, Thank you for posting this

Have they called you back since because they are notorius for persistance. Also, they have called me every half an hour for the last several hours now. My boyfriend answered it three times. First time they asked for me and because he said I wasnt home, they said "i'll call back later" and didnt give him ANY info. Second time it was a girl and she asked for me, when he said that it was his phone, she hung up. Third time he answered and pretended to diguise his voice (not very good at it cuz he has a deep voice), he got hung up on with nothing said.  Since then they have called twice. I keep hitting ignore.

My boyfriend and I decided to just call our provider and change my number all together. Screw those ppl. Effin criminals that are low-life enough to prey on the gullable. Ticks me off.  :angry7:

If I'm not busy I just mess with telemarketers..ie say yes then give bogus info, if it's a woman, ask what she's wearing...say yes, set the phone down by a radio and walk away...good times. Of course I have unlimited minutes or I wouldn't waste the time. But NEVER give information to someone that wont let you call them back.

It would be nice to mess with em but it doesnt work on these folks. I think they definately have an auto dialer but I think they do NOT know how to remove numbers from it or just dont care enough to so they keep calling.

I had a total of 10 calls. From 5 to 9 they kept calling every 30 mins, letting it ring a couple times and then hanging up.

I have received calls from unscrupulous people like that many times in the past. In fact there is a company calling my phone lately and since I was not home they left no message, but my caller ID counted their calls to be 25 in 4 hours. I never give out my information over the phone to anyone who calls me. I try to do things safely and give out as little information out while online and on the phone. It's hard to avoid these scam artists lately as there seems to be so many of them out there.

I just hope that I never have to stoop to that level to make a buck.  Telemarketing is bad enough.  I also hope that there are as many smart people out there that there are here that don't fall prey to these crooks.  Very scary.

I think most of us have had these types of calls at some time. I will give you a tip that really gets them yanked. After you have picked up the phone and are sure it is a scam or annoying telemarketer, start hitting the pound key on your phone and just keep hitting it. Any company that is on a computer relay dialing system, 99% of them are, will have chaos on the other end. You screw up the computer relay for a second or two and your number will get booted out. Now, it MAY get put back in, but do the same thing the next time and I can pretty much guarantee you will be taken out of the system. Any time the person does NOT respond when you say hello (many times you hear people talking in the background?) it is one of the relay systems I mentioned above. The computers just randomly dial sets of numbers in sequence and any 'live' person who picks up the phone is the next target. I realize that people make a living doing legitimate telemarketing, BUT they will NOT have a paycheck cut because I got sucked into trickery and deceit! The hint I gave you? It came from a friend of mine who works for one of the big telephone companies, who shall remain nameless - but they do have quite a few letters in their name..... ;)

Wow Jordandog, that is an excellent tip!  Thanks for letting us know that info. I am going to try if they call again. The do have three numbers they call from too. lol. I have all three programmed in my phone so I know who they are.  8) So far they called twice more yesterday morning but havent called since. Not sure if they finally got wise to my number and figured out how to remove it or if they are just too busy spam calling others.

Oh my goodness!  :o I think I have experienced something similar to that. I received a postcard with a toll free number. I called out of curiousity to verify if it was real or  not. Thank goodness my gut instincts reacted when I felt uncomfortable about something, I immediately declined the offer --- even when they transferred my call to speak with the manager in hopes of persuading me to complete the deal, heck no I just hung up. They are shameless and persistent as predators.  :bs: Beware.

Well well....hadnt heard a ring at all from them since Saturday until this morning.... yet ANOTHER new number from them. That makes 4 that I know of. The newest one is: 866-963-4936. Just as a heads up. now you have all 4 numbers I have so if you see it, dont answer it. I'm still trying to get my number changed entirely because I'm tired of this crap.

I get these calls, too, but they don't bother me much because I let the message machine pick up the call. If it's someone I know, s/he will start to leave a message. A crook or a telemarketer will hang up immediately. If you want to engage in conversation with these pests, just remember not to give out ANY personal information to an unsolicited caller.
