I would talk to the person in charge, see if he/she can get something worked out, like a small meeting with all parties, if it is really bothering you that much.

Best of luck to you, I have been in that position before, & all I can say is, tough it out as best you can, as jobs are scarce these days.

Confront them, and I have, I have walked up on people talken about me, and I just say something, and they usually feel embarrassed about what they were saying.

Document every thing.  It could be they are just testing you out.  It could be that they have bonded and are unsure about who this new person is and will seem standoffish until the ice is broken.  If you haven't made the first move, introduce yourself.  Be friendly and speak to them.  Maybe bring some doughnuts in to bribe them into liking you  :D

Since I work at home, I don't have to worry about co-workers.  ;)

Google is your friend. You can find me there. Can I find you there?

You're the new guy. It will happen in most cases. If they're being mean to your face, either be confused and ask them "Where did that come from?" or return the favor in the joking manner (for instance if they're a guy, say "Nice shoes! Do they make those in mens?" something like that). It depends on the person though-- don't push it too far. Or you could just ignore them. In the long run they will grow out of it so don't worry. I've been there. Give it time!

:crybaby2: The way I look at it: 'I have work to do and I am paid for that type of work'.  8) Yes, co-workers can be mean, nasty at times...you just have to deal with them...ignore them!

As a newbee, you are easily the target for the attacks. I would say the best way to handle a mean spirited co-worker is to avoid them completely. While on probation, you are not in any circumstance to stir any drama. It doesn't matter if you're not at fault because it just looks bad all together that a newbee is in a situation. Rather, you want to stay away from the person and switch to surviver mode. When you are hire permanently, or when you are there long enough, you have plenty of opportunities to work out your differences.
If you choose to confront this co-worker, be prepare to be put in the center of the office gossip. This can be devastating for newbees and risky if your boss doesn't like confrontation. Besides, chances are, this co-worker has been working everyone else's last nerve and you just be cutting in line to say something to them. Let it go for now and try to focus on your career goal. Plenty of time to show your strengths later.
