Health insurance deductible
« on: December 12, 2022, 05:24:15 am »
I got such a shock yesterday. I have to go for some tests at the hospital, and I found out our health insurance changed plans. It's still BCBS but it's a new plan with a huge deductible for thing that aren't standard testing.

I've (thankfully) been healthy so far I'd only been paying the copay for things like doctor's visits, mammogram, etc, but when I found out I needed to have testing, the hospital told me I'd have to pay all $895 of it myself because my deductible was so high. I was really shocked. We get a new insurance card each year so I never even noticed the plan had changed.

Has that ever happened to anyone? I'm really irritated. We already pay so much annually for our health care to be hit with a high deductible was really a shocker. My husband is angry because he never got any notification at all from his employer that the plan was changing.

That is so sad.

Fortunately we have never used up our allotment for these kind of things.   :star:

That's awful! I understand why your husband is so angry. I would've been too. But unfortunately, I can't help you. I didn't use the allotment for this kind of service. Honestly, I hadn't been to the hospital for a while. Probably I took good care of my health. The only problems I constantly had were with my teeth. But after ordering an electric toothbrush from mcdaidpharmacy, I didn't need any other treatment. It's a real saver! It may seem expensive at first, but the investment is worth it. And you better buy helpful devices now than spend more on doctors later.

It is bad when you find out how much medical procedures cost these days.  If you have a high deductible it makes it hard to pay the bills.  I have always had to set up a payment plan.

I am so sorry to hear that. My insurance premium more than doubled for next year. Everything  is going up.

It's always important to always check your insurance plan and be aware of any changes. Sometimes, it can be easy to miss notifications from your employer about changes to your insurance plan, especially if you're not expecting them. If you're looking for more information about your insurance plan and how it works, you can check out the website ibgportland.com. They provide guidance and resources on different types of health insurance plans, including deductibles, and how to navigate the system. It's also important to speak with your employer or human resources department to understand the reason behind the change in plans and what options are available to you. Health insurance can be complicated, but it's important to be informed and aware of your options.

I am glad I checked mine this year, they just started covering all my perscriptions so everything I just ordered came free in the mail with no charges at all.
