BROWNIES

1/2 cup butter
3 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, chopped
1 cup sugar
pinch of salt
2 large eggs, at room temperature*
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (I usually add 2 teaspoons)
3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup chocolate, peanut butter, or white chocolate chips (optional)
Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C). Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish

In a saucepan over low heat, combine the butter and chopped chocolate. Heat, stirring often, until melted, about 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the sugar and salt. Add the eggs and vanilla and stir until blended. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir until just blended. Stir in the chips.

Pour the batter into the dish and spread evenly. Bake until a toothpick comes out almost completely clean, about 30 minutes (don’t overbake). Cool completely and enjoy.
