Found this in TelWut today .. love the trivia

August is also a little bit unique, most of the time at least. In a standard year, there is no other month that begins on the same day of the week as August. In a leap year, however, August begins on the same day of the week as February.

around 700BC that August became the eighth month of the year, when January and February were added to the beginning of the year by King Numa Pompilius

In the year 1752, the British Empire skipped 11 days of September, between the 2nd and 14th. This was actually due to another calendar change, although this time it was when the British Empire changed from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar.
