Today in History
« on: August 17, 2020, 04:21:33 am »
I very rarely click on them, but today while doing my daily PTC on FusionCash I clicked on a link in the "Today in History" section where they list notable/celebrity births and deaths, etc. Basketball player Eddie Griffin died on this date in 2007. However, the link on the FC Today in History page links to the wrong Eddie Griffin.
 ::) ::) ::)
I seem to recall one of the handful of other times I clicked on a link here a few years ago - the same thing happened - they linked to the wrong wikipedia page of a person who shared the same name.
 ::) ::) ::)
It's not a big deal, but how difficult is it to cite check your links? I know it's not necessarily Fusion Cash but more likely an outside source that provides the content details and links. Just shoddy half-assed research in my opinion. Thankfully, I am not relying on this source for my own important research, but simply as a curiosity/time-wasting task as my daily 15¢ rolls in.

You are right! It doesnt take that long to check links created.  It helps to keep mis-information from being spread too.  I think this is part if the site that gets contracted out but not sure. I read on the Fusioncash site that certain things are contracted out and out of their control until they bring it to the attention of their contracted counterparts.

You are also right that it is not a big deal, the pay is the same.

I almost always visit the 'Today in History' page. Sometimes there are discrepancies here and there.  It's no problem with me.  I never take the typos personally.  At the end of my 2 and a half minute time, I still get credit.

 It is actually kind of funny when you think about it....

Obviously there is more than one person on Earth with the same name. So, the history of the lesser known person with the same name of a celebrity really could have happened.  It is still history, but not the history of the person you were expecting.

Either way, you still got your credit ;)  Yay!

When I first click on PTC, it automatically goes to the "Today in History" page.  I usually click it 2 or 3 times out of being curious.  I've also seen a few mistakes there but has you mentioned the 15 cents still comes through.     ;) :thumbsup:

I like to click the links to refresh my mind on some of the celebrities listed there.  More than once I've recognized a name from my childhood and went to see why that name rang a bell.  It's a nice trip down memory lane, but wouldn't be as helpful if it went to the wrong person!

I usually don’t choose the Today in History page as one of my four pages, but I too think links could be checked in order to present accurate information. If I do happen to click on the page, I usually don’t click on the associated links. I normally try to get through the PTC relatively quickly unless I see something that truly interests me.
