Does anyone have a word or words that they use instead of swear words when they're frustrated or angry?  :angel11: I'm thinking that fiddle-dee-dee, or Holy Cat or Holy Cow might be some good alternatives to yukky swear words; that is, if you'd rather not say them.

I've heard that swearing is done by people with a lack of vocabulary, but I have a decent vocabulary and can let loose some doozy swear words when I'm mad.

Thoughts?

:fish:

Sorry that is misnomer.

Sorry that is a misnomer.  You can have a PHD and still cuss/swear with the best of them.  I know people like that and education has nothing to do with  it.

"Oh, fart." I can't help but curse whenever something bad happens. [shrug]

I think the most important factor about swearing is being able to control your mouth in certain situations rather than letting it fly around anyone-anywhere-under any circumstances.  The other issue is when you swear constantly rather than being able to explain or talk in normal vocabulary to the point you can tell it is all the person reverts to. With that being said, when I am either very frustrated or upset, I can talk like a sailor.  I think swearing is a venting technique which allows me to deal with what's bother me at times.

I always think that people who swear using f_ck and sh_t all the time are just lazy attempts at being cool. I much prefer when people use substitute words which require a little more thought behind them.

I'm trying to stop altogether, replacement words are a good strategy.

I think the frustrations of life make us feel the swear words fit the best at the time. But i also think if we strive to be better from cussing we can be.I know i have a problem giving in to it and then i feel foolish.Serves me right to feel that way.

The apostle Paul said he disliked preaching the good news and then still being a miserable sinner.Plus inheriting sin from A&E doesnt help and we fight against our own bodies.Thats when its a good time to ask God in prayer for his help.

:fish:

People who cuss are not going to say fiddle dee dee when they get angry or something goes wrong.

I have been arguing with a kid in Sunday School who says "dang it" all the time.  I have told him for the last time he is not to say that at least at church or in my class.  He said I can say what I want to.  I said "that's fine I will talk to your daddy" and he has not said it again.

For those of you who commented on "fiddle-dee-dee" as not practical or useful as a swear word; my aunt used to say it all the time. I think she got it from Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind. It was really cute when she said it.  :rainbow:

You probably can train yourself to say a certain word instead of a swear word. Just takes some practice.  :angel11:

I try not to say them even in private because I know if I get in the habit, at some point they will slip in an inappropriate situation.
