How music always gets it right
« on: October 31, 2019, 07:32:34 pm »
With help from one of my fav bands The Alan Parsons Project. They saw almost 40 yrs ago how mankind has polluted the earth with "Ammonia Avenue"

Is there no sign of light as we stand in the darkness?
Watching the sun arise
Is there no sign of life as we gaze at the waters?
Into the strangers eyes

And who are we to criticize or scorn the things that they do?
For we shall seek and we shall find Ammonia Avenue

If we call for the proof and we question the answers
Only the doubt will grow
Are we blind to the truth or a sign to believe in?
Only the wise will know

And word by word they handed down the light that shines today
And those who came at first to scoff, remained behind to pray
Yes those who came at first to scoff, remained behind to pray

When you can't hear the rhyme and you can't see the reason
Why should the hope remain?
For a man will be tired and his soul will grow weary
Living his life in vain

And who are we to justify the right in all we do?
Until we seek until we find Ammonia Avenue

Through all the doubt somehow they knew
And stone by stone they built it high
Until the sun broke through
A ray of hope, a shining light
Ammonia Avenue

Alan Parsons speaking about the album:

“Theoretically it was inspired by Eric’s visit to a petro-chemical plant in Middlesborough, after he’d struck up a friendship with the boss of ICI. Eric was just fascinated by this area containing all these hugely pollutive things; everything was pipes, factories and steam. Coincidentally, another very 1984-ish image. Among all the pipes and steam there was this street called Ammonia Avenue. Essentially the album is conceptless I think, though the title song is perhaps an observation on ecology, and how we are poisoning…

Clearly supports Eccl 8:9 how man has dominated himself to his own injury

Music mostly tells a story so getting it right it if done right is an art for some but some writers deserve more credit then the actual singer. Singer just brings the songs to life but unless your the writer to the soul isn't in
the song as it would be if you were both the writer and the person playing the song

Alan Parsons Project most awesome music in it's time & still legend ahead it's time even now. Songs that predict many darknesses, hopefulness, & warnings even now.
