If you have really dry skin it is best to use products that have good humectants.  Shea butter, coconut oil, argan oil, and for your face, hyaluronic acid is very good. I tend to try and buy a "high end" product once a year for my face.  i tend toward hyaluronic acid for moisturization and retinol for wrinkles and fine lines.

We used to use Vaseline years ago and off brand petroleum jellies from the dollar store or cvs that cost less than $5. Now my mother swears by the moisturizing affects of Aquaphor. It's far more expensive at $12.99 a jar, but has some healing properties that the reviews on amazon have stated are very effective. I know it 's not a traditional lotion but it might be worth the cost if you need something to heal and not just purely moisturize your dry skin.

I have extremely oily hair.  I can't really wear makeup because my skin really shines-hate it.

This post gave me some ideas of lotions to try that I haven't previously tried - having a lot of trouble with my skin lately and keep buying lotion but so far nothing much is helping.

Thanks  guys,  I have tried so many lotions, but a couple were mentioned  that I have not tried. I am going to try those, I wish  there was a way of  getting samples to try instead of having to buy a whole bottle and the it doesn't work.  I have a couple of nieces who take  any lotion that I don't like. They don't  have a problem with dry skin. Or their kids. I have relaly dry skin on my feet and a  nurse suggest I put  Vicks on them and they a  pair of socks and  yes it  works. So id  that  about 3  times a week.

Aveeno has always been my go to but for my feet I use something that has tea oil in it.  I purchase it at Ultra or Sephora as I cannot find it anywhere else.

My husband has been using soap made from goats milk.  He no longer has skin that itches "unbearingly".

I easily lose most of the moisture.

I use Avon SSS lotion and gel.  I don't have really dry skin, but they work very well.

I use what ever I can find.  Some times one lotion works really good and then next thing ya know I have to switch to another.    Just depends on my skin.
