I believe you should buy for the people who work for you as a thank you for the previous year.  I hope they do not get me anything and I usually don’t for my boss.

Why? Thank them for what? They get my time and I get a pay check that is less than what my time is worth. I don't feel like I owe my boss a gift.  Or any co-workers for that matter. lol

we did a secret Santa exchange amongst the staff....

They played "dirty santa' where I was working a while back.  Most people did not participate.  Of the ones that did most of the gifts which were random for anyone and had to cost at least $20 (which I think is steep) were not anything I would have been interested in.  I have noticed most times when you draw names at work or even at church the gifts received are not anything I wanted or could even use.  A few years ago I got a gift of pierced ear rings.  I was just like DO YOU EVEN KNOW ME AT ALL?  Not only are my ears NOT pierced but I do not wear ear rings.  EVER!  smh

We did not chip in to buy anything for our boss. Half of my co-workers don't like my boss. I did buy some delicious candy for eveyone including my boss and that was it.

That is a new one.  I have never bought a gift for a boss.  It should be the other way around.  I have never liked a boss enough to buy a gift for them.

When I worked  I don't remember contributing to a gift for the boss. At Christmas time we may have had a secret Santa but that was the extent of gift  giving in the office.  :present: :peace:

I'd like to but money is a little tight for all of that.  And we are a business of two.  So there is no one else to chip in with me.

I don't work any more because I am retired, but when I did work, my boss used to be so nasty to everyone, I don't think anyone would have been caught dead buying her any presents.

I didn't get her anything and she didn't get me anything. I'd rather save my money than give a cheap gift that no one wants anyway.
