I went away for a night with church members and slept in a hotel room, my roommate and I got along well, she was an older lady, so it was an experience.

It seems I may have an opportunity to take a vacation I would really like in a year or so!  It would be great and last about 8-9 days.  The problem is we will be in a different hotel almost every night and if I say I want a "single" I will pay about $600 more than if I accept a "double."  Double means I will share a hotel room with another single lady on the trip.

Here's the issue:  I sleep terribly sometimes.  I have enough trouble sleeping at home .  If I can't sleep I watch TV, turn on a light and read, or play on my computer.  I usually sleep well when it's time to go to sleep but wake up at 3-4am or don't go to sleep until about 2am. It's often one or the other!  So what is already making me a bit uncertain? The freakin' sleeping arrangements.

Can you sleep in hotels easily?

Hello! :D :)

That sounds lovely 8 or 9 days to just relax in a nice hotel. I have no trouble sleeping in a hotel as long as I feel safe and comfortable. I hope it all works out for you. :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

It's been many years since I slept in a hotel. Oh, wait, that's not true--up until the summer of 2015, it had been several years. But then my mom and her husband got rooms for us all for the weekend at a nearby hotel so we could escape household mayhem and enjoy the outdoor pool! Not to mention all the channel options on the TV! Haha. It sounds simple enough but it was actually a pretty good weekend. It's weird but I loooove sleeping in hotels. It's never been difficult for me and there's something about them that have always made me feel really comfortable.

I'd take the double if it's cheaper than taking the single hotel. I can't sleep regularly anywhere so it doesn't matter where I try to sleep.

It's hard for me to travel and stay overnight due to my phobia of hotels. I used to clean hotels/motels and couldn't take it and quit on the 5th day. I think of the last person who was there before me and the bed, and the bathroom..I have stayed in few but I didn't like it. The only way I'd stay in one if I really had to would have to be a big time hotel like the marriott or something like that.
I remember one year I had an apt fire so I couldn't stay at home and had to move out for a few weeks. And had to sleep in a hotel. I left one hotel and went to another and had to change rooms 5 times due to dirty sheets, nasty sunken in mattresses.. it was disgusting.

It depends on the hotel. If it's nice, I'll sleep fine. I can't sleep well in cruddy motels.

Changing rooms  everyday is crazy.  Why put yourself thru that?  Can you find a Hotel that doesn't have you moving from room to room.  Too stressing.

I usually use extended stay: monthly rates.
Then personalized my room with my favorite bedding sets.
Bring my personal pillows and lamps.
Then, I am ready to have a magnificent good night sleep.

I know it’s an extra expense, but I would get a single room.  I could not spend the night with a total stranger in a strange hotel room.  I don’t know if you’re married or not, but try asking your husband, or sisters, or friends to go along.  If you can’t find anyone I would definitely would get a single.

Yep NO way I would go to sleep in a room with a stranger.

I have trouble sleeping sometimes and hotels make it more difficult. At home I  need a fan to sleep, but on the road I will listen to ocean or rain sounds on my phone in order to fall asleep. Sharing a room is always bad because it takes me forever to fall asleep and the other person is inevitably snoring before I'm halfway there, which keeps me up.
