Starting over in the corporate world
« on: November 20, 2018, 04:53:42 am »
Are you starting  over in the corporate world due to job loss, retirement, medical or whatever reason?
Well I am. I just made 90 days at my new employer. I loss
my  last job in Jan 2018. It was a struggle financially and mentally, but I made it.

Congratulations on getting back in the saddle! I was self employed for thirty years but my market turned south. I took a lower paying, brutally exhausting third shift job with thoughts of my company coming back to life but times/rules changed. I did not want to get mixed up with red tape, bureaucracy and had kind of burned out with the private sector. I took care of my family and employees as long as I could. Ten years ago I went back to working for large corporations (currently working for one of the biggest during the day) and work for a company that uses my old self employed knowledge for contract work at night. I keep two jobs because I never want to have to worry about losing my sole source of income again. If one company gets slammed the other company thrives because they are somewhat different from each other.

Congratulations - I know some people that were out of work for three years so you may have been one of the lucky ones. Good luck in your new job.

From watching the news in the last week it looks like a whole lot of people are going to be out of work soon.  I feel like it is going to get worse before it gets better for a lot of them.  Congratulations on getting back to a good job.

People have been losing their job for years.  When the last president was in there more people lost jobs, their whole business, insurance, their homes, and everything else.  Nothing is going to get better.  The country has gone too far south.  And too many bleeding heart liberals who want to let millions of freeloaders come to the US and the few working folks fake care of them.  Then more and more people here being raised up to believe the world owes them everything so they don't want to work. Just give me a check.  SMH.

I can see more and more jobs moving across the boarder because people wanting $15 an hour for an entry level job.  Companies cannot afford to pay that.  And the owners of companies deserve to have more money than the entry level peon with no skills.

Congrats on getting a new job! It takes a while to find a job depending on your situation and what you are looking for. It took me two years to find my current job, but I am back on the hunt for a better job now.

It is hard, but I was a lucky one,  I  had a job before ever leaving the old job.  Give 2 weeks and then would  start a new one. It  seems like if your  working it is easier to move on to a new  job then if you quit the old one  before getting a new one. I know when I was  doing the hiring I always  looked to see how long they had been out of a job. If I had been  a long time I would  ask more questions then if they were still working.
