I haven't really done a lot of steak prep myself but I'm encouraged to do so; a lot of my friends grill or smoke and it tastes awesome. When I eat it, I tend to eat it medium to medium rare, and seasoned simply. Cooking it too long tends to dry it out, I suspect.

First the steak at room temp,  Kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper , on a hot hot grill or skillet and that's how you get the best bark on a steak and seal in the juices, and let it rest 10 min before you cut it .   Kosher salt is the key.

I season mine occasionally with Lea&Perrins.

However, if my son grilled the steak, very little is needed. He is reallllly good at grillng meat.

Last night, he and I went out for dinner, and he paid for me a steak. It tasted good, but added a little Worchestershire.

Had the leftovers for lunch. Man steak is the best.

My son's is best of the best :)
