I hear the Roar
« on: August 04, 2018, 07:19:36 am »
The 78th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle is beginning!  I can hear motorcycles cruising down I-90 on their way to Sturgis, SD.
It runs August 3 through August 12, 2018.

Every year thousands of cycles head to "the Hills".  It isn't something I would ever do (I don't even have motorcycle), but it is exciting to see so many motorcycles in one place.  My childhood neighbor traveled from Iowa to it for a number of years.

Pray for safety for all of those cyclists.

That is pretty cool.   I don't have any desire to go, I also do not own a motorcycle but I bet it is interesting to see all the motorcycles.

I don't live near your area but I do live near Daytona Beach FL and we get an annual influx of motorcyclists during our bike week.  It is exciting.  I am 64 almost 65 but I still think guys in black leather on motorcycles are hot.  LOL.

I first became aware of Sturgis from watching "*bleep* Stars."  Wow!  It's been going on annually for a long time -- 78 years!  I think it would be fun to attend whether you're into biking or not.  I've never been to South Dakota, but I would enjoy exploring the Black Hills.

I never even knew about Sturgis, until the guys on American Pickers went there years ago.
It looks like a good time for motorcycle enthusiasts, it would be interest to watch them drive their en masse.... enjoy :)

I have been to Sturgis, only to  visit and driving through.  the nearest I have been to seeing a lot of  Men on motorcycles was every year  for the Christmas drive and then there would be any where 150 to 300 cycles and  we would stand on  the sidewalk handing them  toys. It was a sight. Of course this was in the city.  I normally would buy  between 3-5 to hand them. But it seems like it was always when I would have to be on my way to work. Talked to my boss and he said I could be late as I would have to cross the street they were on and it would be blocked off unless I went about an hour early. It was nice of him.

Yes, hope they are safe; that has to be a lot of noise in your area!

They have a motorcycle week about two hours away from me.  During that time you can hear the roar of bikers heading that way.  I have screwed up before and ended up there during motorcycle week and it drove me crazy.

I know people who have attended the festival and have seen many pictures.  Looks like a wild place to be!
Have a wonderful day!

It's no Sturgis, but we have a pretty big bike rally here every year around the end of May/beginning of June. Several thousand bikers (and many vendors) come to town for about 7-10 days for Ohio Bike Week. The noise is a bit disruptive at times, but the excitement and influx of money is always a nice tradeoff. Some awesome food trucks come into town as well!
