I live in a city with 639,000 and it doesn't help much. No matter, I still get the DQ bonuses.

Where I live only has a population of 50,000, and that's inflated with military members and families, and I qualify for plenty of surveys. It's more about your personal demographics like age, gender, income, race, and household makeup than where you live

I don’t think living in a large town will have anything to do with getting more surveys no matter where you live. It all depends what the advertisers are looking for. I live in a large urban city and still get disqualified for the most part.

Moving wont help you much or if at all but it might make you qualify for some stuff here and there you didn't qualify for before

I never knew living some places with a large population mattered. I don't think that is right if it does. ::)

That decision rightfully belongs to the ones who are paying for the advertising.

Since I live in a greater metropolitan area (a densely populated urban core with surrounding cities, suburbs and rural areas), I do receive surveys that target that demographic.  I usually qualify, but not all of them.  However, some of these are looking for folks ready to retire (it may be a proposed community development), a family outing to a theme park or have a post-career interest in golf or other hobbies like sky diving or bungee jumping.  Some of the travel-related surveys qualify me because I have access to and use major airports (for airline, car rental, chain/independent hotels as well as past travels and future trips).  There are other reasons, too, but those came to mind first on this topic.

I haven't run into many surveys that I didn't qualify for because of how populated my hometown is. In fact, I haven't been asked this more than a few times.

But maybe changing the zip code might put you in a different demographic group.

It depends on what they're looking for. Some questions are looking for people that do certain activities that are much more likely to happen in a more urban or rural areas.  I live in Florida and get surveys targeted towards Florida residents but I don't qualify if they're looking for people in the major cities like Miami or Orlando.

When I first joined FC, I lived in the midwest, now I live on the east coast and I get a few surveys less than what I got in the midwest. I think it all depends on demographics :)

I don't think there is a formula that we can use to predict whether or not we will qualify for more surveys.  It's like ladavia89 said.  It depends on what the creator of the survey is looking for.  If a survey is targeted to a specific age, then where you live may not be relevant.  If it's targeted to your daily activities, then perhaps where you live would make a difference.
