You know, like age of kids, how many, your home situation (such as having a husband or husbandless), etc.

Meds don't teach coping mechanisms, or help with reasoning and developing personal qualities. I'm not intending to sound critical. Far from it; I can sympathize as many parents I know medicate their kids. I just wonder, what is the purpose of the meds, and what are the possible side effects?

find a way to go to another room depending on their ages and just scream if needed.

when trying to get them to do something. be very specific in your requests. have no emotion in your body language and give them some time to respond.

Meds are never a cure all. I'm a strong believer of using anti-depressesants, mood stabilizers, anti-anxiety, etc. But they shouldn't be over prescribed and they should always be used in conjunction with therapy and learning about whatever disorder you are having to deal with. my neighbor has a child with autism and he gets play therapy, speech therapy, home visits, etc. along with meds. A lot of times therapy can help by itself but the only time meds can help by themselves is for things like pain. Any type of psyche issue or retardation has to be followed by therapy and a lot of times the family has to learn with the actual person who is affected as well.
