Special Christmas dinner!
« on: December 04, 2017, 06:36:46 am »
Do you have a special dinner for Christmas?  My husband is Italian and his mother (when she was alive) would make the 7 course fish dinner that a lot of Italians eat.  My mother always made a prime rib dinner.

No special dinner for Christmas because everyone is  on a special diet for health reasons.

It is a problem this year.  When my mom was alive we had party food on Christmas Eve and Lasagne and left over party food on Christmas day.  Our family is whittled down to just my older son and I this year and he has to work most of the day.  I will figure out something though life goes on right? So we figure out a way to adjust.   :present:

My large family is more of a Christmas Eve and Christmas morning group. Christmas dinner breaks down to the nuclear family. Christmas Even and morning, we have specific things that each one of us contributes. My mom just started doing our nuclear family's dinner. She changes it up every year. It's something I'd rather not do. I have friends that I'd like to see and I feel that spending the previous evening and morning with my family is enough.

My dad made shrimp and cheese grits one year and it was awesome. But our staples are: homeade rolls, Honey baked ham, whatever meat my uncle decides to smoke, oreo *bleep*, olive cheese *bleep*, and homeade cinnamon rolls. Everything else changes every year. This year I'm on a strict diet, so I'm planning on bringing baked apples.

Good lord, Looking at that list made me realize why no one is ever hungry for dinner. lol

It depends on who hosts.  My brother always does ham.  My other brother and I usually do some kind of beef.

Christmas Eve has been appetizers so everyone can pick as the evening goes on, I always make Italian Wedding Soup for Christmas Eve.  Christmas morning is cinnamon muffins.  Christmas dinner is lasagna.
