When I was working, there was no expectation or mandatory over time ours to work.  I worked 40 hours a week and that was it.

I have a job that pays really good, and I choose how many hours I want to work per day/week....so some days I might work longer  hours, and some days I might only work a few hours or even take an extra day off or two, and my paycheck still averages the same.  I love it.  My job allows me to pretty much be my own boss, there's alot of freedom without the responsibility of having to own the business.

The perks are: still having time to have a life.

The downside is there are NO benefits such as health/dental insurance, but that's fine.  There's no "paid time off/paid vacation days", so I set aside money myself to cover my vacation time.

I typically do about 50 hours while getting paid for 40. I don't mind it like I used to when I first started. I think over time, you get used to doing extra work and it's no longer much of a chore for you.
