Which do you think is better? Pay before or after when dining in a resturant

I say after since that's what I always end up doing after a meal.

I prefer to pay BEFORE, like I do at the Sizzler, so I have the freedom to leave when I'm ready; instead of, waiting for the waiter/waitress.

I tip AFTERWARD.

I prefer to pay  after dinner just in case the service or food was awful.

Paying after in a sit down restaurant.... seems to be the normal.  I've never heard of paying before... unless it's for a buffet meal.   When I order a steak, or a burger from a sit down restaurant I want it cooked a certain way.  I have high expectations for service.  I factor all that in when I leave a tip and comment/rate the restaurant.  So paying after suits just fine.  Fast food --- pay and go to get my heart attack in a sack and keep moving.

Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to pay at all? I would prefer to pay after the meal unless going to a buffet restaurant where they make you pay before hand.

If it is a sit down restaurant, I expect to pay after the meal.  If it is a walk up to the counter restaurant, I expect to pay before the meal.

I would prefer to pay after eating. If something went bad the restaurants usually give a discount on your bill.
