I visit the dentist once or twice a year which is what insurance covers. I had a cap put on one tooth about two years ago and felt pain stemming from the cap for about eight months before getting it checked out. Apparently the cap had not been filed down enough and was causing strain on tendons/muscles under the tooth. My son went in to have his wisdom teeth taken out yesterday and daughter goes in for the same next Friday. Having my wisdom teeth taken out was the worst pain I had ever endured. Far worse than twelve broken bones (ribs, nose, wrist and foot), dislocated thumbs, kidney stones, and one hundred and seventy six stitches across my leg. Sorry for the dental horror stories before your visit to the dentist. Best of luck with your visit, hope everything turns out okay.

I don't have insurance, but my parents go to an amazing dentist who charged me less than what I expected about a week ago. thanks to a friends and family discount. However, I need root canal(s) and I'm worried about the cost. Stupid teeth. Dealing with tooth pain is awful and it's a shame how a lot of people are without insurance, so they're forced to deal with such pain. It shouldn't be like that. :( I hope you can get some relief soon.

I go twice a year for cleaning and check-up. I do feel very blessed to have insurance.

What a boring post! Sorry.  :-[

I am sorry to hear about your terrible experience. Coincidentally, I recently had a root canal due to a then-undetected bacterial infection that caused me immense pain whenever I ate or drank on the area.

Teeth pain is the worst! I have had my fair share of that horrible pain. For years I didn't have insurance and just dealt with it. I finally got insurance in 2012 but it still costs a fortune. With insurance (good dental insurance I should add) I have still spent thousands and thousands!
