Do you have a firestick
« on: May 04, 2017, 05:14:32 pm »
I want to get a firestick but only know a little about it. I want to know if anyone has one? I don't need an illegal one, I just want one that I can watch the same stuff I do on cable. espn, a&e usa abc cbs nbc fox. fs1. is there a charge for adding apps or watching these apps? what would the monthly cost be? I am just trying to cut costs a little by eliminating cable and adding apps to  a firestick  . any information will be appreciated :)

Yes.  I have multiple Fire Sticks.
I have the KODI program on them & it allows you to stream movies.   It's not technically illegal because it's streaming & you aren't downloading.  It's a loophole.
Also gets youtube & netflix & the rest.  More up to date than my apple tv... which is too old to get youtube now.

The kodi program is free, you just need to figure out how to put it on the stick. I was fortunate to have an in-law who hooked me up.  :)
Good Luck.... I hope to change all my appletv & rokus to a Fire Stick.

I don't know much about it I only by name, but it looks like you got your answer.  Good luck on this.

Your better off getting one of those Android Boxes instead in my Opinion more option to customize what you wanna watch and stuff.

Be prepared for a lot of frustration while trying to get a drink from a firehose with Kodi. I would suggest you try it out on your computer for free before you plan to depend on it.

I have heard nothing but good things about it. I have been thinking about getting Amazon Prime, for an estimated one hundred and ten dollars a year,  and have heard that sometimes the firestick is packaged in for free. our neighbors have it and love it. I turned them on to Netflix and they are able to get Netflix through their fire stick in addition to movies run through Amazon Prime. They shop on line quite a bit more than I do but, after doing some due diligence, I calculated that the reduction in cost of shipping associated with my Christmas shopping alone would cover the cost of Amazon Prime, not to mention my birthday present shopping and book discounts. I will be looking into it as soon as I get time-most likely after my son heads off to college in August.

The best way to find out, is to buy one and see if you get enough entertainment to replace your cable service. You can run them both until you decide. I cut my cable a few years ago and the only thing I miss is a few sports events that are only on ESPN, but if I missed them enough I could add Sling TV for $20 a month.
