Outdated Phrases
« on: March 02, 2017, 10:00:27 am »
I was talking with a child recently and he kept repeating himself over and over and I finally looked at him and said "You sound like a broken record". He looked at me puzzled and said "Baseball record?". I laughed. It dawned on me he didn't know what a "record" is lol

Have you ever said something to a younger person and they had no idea what you were talking about?

I remember when my parents said to me, money doesn't grow on trees . And I would say, if it did I would be a lumberjack

The one that always gets me is the saying "rolling the windows down" referring to a car won't make sense to todays generation of kids.

Also, the symbol of a floppy disc as the "save" button is a bit outdated haha

I think we as an older generation heard a lot of things that the parents don't  even know about. Yep sometimes my grandson would look at me and wonder what  ever was i talking about. The one he laughed at was i told him if he ran from me again when he didn't want to  listen or do what i wanted him too do was he was going to learn the switch dance.  Well one day i had had enough. And he learned the switch dance. Let me tell you he did not have a mark on him as it was just  lightly hitting his jeans. But he was sorry and said he wouldn't do it again. Darn kid never go hurt but  he thought he was going to.

Yes,  I do remember telling my daughter Oky doky and she told me "Mom they don't use that phrase any more". I told her so I do.
