I have a 2 year old rescue dog. We were told she was rescued as a stray about 9 months ago, then adopted once and brought back after being mistreated, so she does have some quirks and anxiety issues that we're working on; we weren't told any specifics other than someone had used a shock collar on her and she got to the point of lashing out in retaliation, but we've never had any problems with her trying to bite or act out other than her being so agitated in her crate (we think this likely stems back to the aforementioned abuse) that she broke out of it a couple days ago while we were out. I think my questions would be:

  • Were you born a stray or did you have a home as a puppy?
  • What did the people before us do to you?
  • Are you happy here?

I would ask the cat:

(1) Why do you insist on grooming my bald spot (and pull out my hairs around it making the bald spot bigger)?

(2) What is your fascination with rustling papers on the bedroom floor only at 2:00-5:00 in the morning?

(3) What on earth possesses you to carry random small articles of clothing/ziplock baggies/other small household items that you can fit into your mouth from one room of the house to another when you are the only one home?  What exactly goes through your brain that makes you think this is a good idea or something that needs to be done and you are the one to accomplish it?

(If our cat was a human, she would be a cross between the banjo playing kid from Deliverance and the character Martin Short played in the SNL syncronized swimming skit from the 1980s).
