Electric always.  The first apartment my hubby and I lived in had a gas stove and I was always afraid of it.  No gas for me.  They say its cleaner and more efficient which I don't doubt but I just never got used to gas.

Having cooked by electric & gas stoves, my preference is gas stoves. The reasons are:

. To be able to control the flame
. When turning off the stove, the heat is gone (unlike an electric stove)
. If the electric goes out, I can still cook using the gas stove
. The gas stove heats up instantly (With electric it takes longer)
. The covers can be removed for easy cleaning (The coils on an electric stove cannot)

I have a new electric stove with the smooth top and I love it.  The oven also has convection which I haven't used yet, but I am excited to.  I plan to use it soon just to see how it cooks differently.  I know it is supposed to be much faster but I don't know if there are other differences.

I used to have gas, but now we have transferred everything to electric so we wouldn't have a separate bill. I did like gas better though.

I cook with a gas stove and always have. My Dad had an electric stove when he was alive and every time I visited him I had to cook with it with disastrous results. I was always burning everything with it.

I have never lived anywhere with a gas stove, but I am well aware of the advantages.  At work we build custom homes and since I have been doing this, we have never put in an electric stove.  For good reason.

The town I live in has a Public Utility District where the residents own the power company, so our monthly bills are half what they are in nearby areas. I don't know anyone here that is not total electric.

I am worried about gas and especially gas poisoning so I prefer electrical stove. I don't have a gas stove when we moved to this new home. Electrical and it is easy too.
